HOMEOPATHIC TREATMENT OF INFERTILITY

Most important  hormones with impact on fertility

Most important  hormones with impact on fertility are:

–FSH

-Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH)

-LH, Prolactin,Oestradiol,Progesterone

-Testosterone,Insulin,Thyroxine

For women who are concerned about fertility issues, it is important that these hormones are within normal range and that they do not interact in an adverse way thereby causing problems for conception.Where there is hormonal imbalance, the chances of a good quality egg maturing would likely to be compromised. Age  is only one factor among many that may be involved in  hormonal imbalance

AMH(Anti-Myllerian Hormone)

AMH is produced by the granulosa cells of the small follicles in the ovary. As a product of the granulosa cells, which envelop each egg and provide them energy, AMH serves as a molecular biomarker for the  size of the ovarian egg reserve. Hence the level of AMH reflects the remaining potential of the ovary. Low AMH suggests approaching menopause or premature ovarian failure. AMH is a measure of egg quantity, but  it may be combined with  follicle imaging through  ultrasound scan for the estimation  of egg quality.A low AMH reading means that ovarian reserve is low, but in many cases AMH decline is reversible through appropriate homeopathic treatment. After improvement of AMH value, the chances to conceive naturally or through assisted conception are certainly increased, especially if reduced levels of FSH are also insured.

FSH

To turn into ova ,follicular cells must be stimulated by FSH secreted from hypophysis,an endocrine gland in the brain. Once the ovum is produced, the ovum itself produces another hormone, estradiol, which feeds back to hypophysis advising it to stop producing FSH for the time being. If the woman does not become pregnant, this ovum degenerates and period comes.Since the ovum degenerates, estradiol levels decline so that, without their inhibitory feedback, this gland in the brain starts secreting  FSH again, leading to another cycle.

If the ovary has many eggs, the FSH in a woman’s blood remains low because hypophysis  doesn’t need to work hard to get a normal ovulation. If the egg number is low, hypophysis needs to work harder to induce ovulation, so it increases the amount of FSH in an effort to stimulate the ovaries. So,a high FSH level means that the egg number is reduced , sometimes so low that pregnancy is not possible.By an appropriate and tailor-made homeopathic treatment for balancing and improving the functional efficiency of ovaries,FSH levels may be restored and indicative the succeded positive therapeutic result.

Ovarian Follicles and Ultrasound Scan

Ovarian antral or resting follicles are small follicles (about 2-8 mm in diameter) that  can be seen, measured and counted with ultrasound.A high quality ultrasound is the best way to accurately assess and count these small but critical structures. The number of antral follicles visible on ultrasound is indicative of the number of microscopic primordial follicles remaining in the ovary. Each primordial follicle contains an immature egg that can potentially develop and ovulate in the future. The number of visible antral follicles is an indication of the number of eggs remaining ,so that the fewer antral follicles seen, the fewer eggs remaining

Ovarian follicle counts ,along with age,the case history and certain hormones, are  the best tools for estimating ovarian reserve, the expected response to ovarian stimulating drugs, and the chance for successful pregnancy with either natural conception or through in vitro fertilization.

Common causes of infertility

1)infertility due to a range of conditions, detected by conventional means, including: High FSH, endometriosis, PCOS, hormonal imbalances, low ovarian reserve as indicated by low AMH, low sperm count, low sperm motility, poor sperm morphology, sperm antibodies, early menopause, etc

2) infertility unexplained by conventional means, but often explained through the homeopathic case history and analysis

The Main Problem with IVF

IVF in all its varying formats i.e. IUI, natural  IVF, IVF and ICSI, the main problem often comes in the failure of implanting, that is when the embryos die after implanting into the uterus. The phase of embryo implantation and the establishment of an appropriate connection between trophoblast and endometrium is certainly the most critical for the IVF procedure.During this phase a thorough homeopathic prescribing may be involved, according to each one individual case requirements, for a positive completion and outcome of the whole IVF procedure.

Fertility Homeopathic treatment

Fertility Homeopathic Treatment is applied to restore or improve health and balance through which natural pregnancy or a better chance of IVF success will occur. The homeopathic treatment range from helping women to conceive to reducing their chances of a miscarriage and also may help men to improve their sperm quantity and quality. This help may be highly specific and prove to be essential and effective, since homeopathic remedies not only treat simply stress, emotions and symptoms ,but may target  the underlying physical health conditions in many fertility cases.Homeopathic Pharmacology has been widely and successfully tested and established long ago in Public/State Hospitals, like in United States and last decades in the NHS of quite a lot countries, like in Switzerland, France, Germany, Italy in Europe and quite a lot countries in South East America and South East Asia. There is also a most remarkable and growing evidence of its scientific nature according to modern scientific criteria and the relevant literature through academic research is continuously increasing.

Fertility Homeopathic Treatment

-is encouraging physical energy and blood flow to reproductive organs such as fallopian tubes, ovaries and uterus

-is reducing stress hormones that interfere with ovulation

-is increasing  the chances of implantation

-is stabilising the hormone balance of the body, which helps the egg to be released

-is evidenced by its long NHS applications and academic research  all over the world

-is an absolutely safe ,painless, non toxic and non invasive  procedure

– may provide the most indicated Nutrition components in a form that informs the body to assimilate them in the best way from the diet

-may provide the informational pharmacologic aspect of any indicated drug or herb, deprived of any possible toxic or side effect that they may have on the organism

-may offer the indicated counselling through the live interaction with the patient through the homeopathic case taking, which is deprived of any painful analytical interrogations

Fertility Homeopathic Treatment programme

Treatment programme involves follow up consultations once every 4-6 weeks for a period of 3-9 months usually. The treatment programme is tailor-made to suit any individual fertility requirements, like AMH and FSH levels, ovarian follicles ultrasound imaging, etc:

  1. for women who want to conceive naturally

Natural pregnancy can occur if a woman is ovulating regularly. Irregular periods makes difficult to determine the timing of ovulation, when the impact on fertility is obvious Secondly, good general and reproductive health are important and these can be also improved. As far as hormones are concerned, both the individual hormones involved as well as their interrelationship and balance are equally important.

When  menstrual cycle is going well, it is highly likely that women are making healthy, high quality eggs. When  menstrual cycle is not going well, it is unlikely to make healthy eggs.

Any other pathologic conditions, like chronic endometritis, endometriosis, PCOS,premature ovarian failure/low AMH levels, chronic endocervicitis, immunological disorders, etc, will be treated with the specific for each individual case homeopathic remedies. Also, any psychosomatic problems related, directly or indirectly, with fertility will be treated accordingly.

  1. for women who want to improve their egg quality before Egg freezing or IVF

Where patients would like to combine Homeopathic treatment with IVF, establishment of regular periods will increase the chances of IVF.Medical literature suggests that AMH test and ovarian follicle scan combined will give a reasonable indication for egg quality. If  treatment succeeds to improve AMH and Ovarian Follicle Counts, it is highly likely to impact on egg quality positively. Better egg quality is of course vital for better chances of success with IVF. Antral ovarian follicle counts ,along with age,the case history and certain hormones, are  the best tools for estimating ovarian reserve, the expected response to ovarian stimulating drugs, and the chance for successful pregnancy with in vitro fertilization.

The route of egg freezing may be easier considered, according to individual circumstances, when AMH and FSH values are restored at satisfactory levels. An egg freezing clinic will wish to determine the likely quality of one’s eggs by looking at age, AMH, results from antral follicle scan etc. prior to egg freezing. So,regardless of the procedural protocol, one would wish to freeze the highest quality eggs possible

  1. for women with failed IVF cycles

IVF failure is generally attributed to weakness in the embryo that leads to failed implantation. On average, only about 25% of transferred embryos continue to develop and become live births. The success rate for the implanting of embryos reduces as a women ages. The conventional  approach to get a sperm cell into an egg to develop an embryo and putting it back into the uterus in the hope that it will implant  has proved unsatisfactory.

The basic Homeopathic  working principle is to improve first the quality of the reproductive system . This principle has helped many patients to achieve live births after failed IVF attempts.Homeopathic treatment  targets to get women more prepared before they start another cycle of IVF. Retests of hormones often show lower FSH and higher AMH and, combined with an improved appearance of ovarian follicle count, suggest  a better egg quality.

Upgrading of the quality of both eggs and sperm cells is certainly a main target of Fertility Homeopathic treatment as well as the physiological conditions  at the time and site of embryo implantation

d)for women who had recurring miscarriages

Homeopathic treatment  is applied before they become pregnant and may be continued under an individualized proper  timing during pregnancy

e)for women who have PCOS

Homeopathic treatment aims to restore regular periods, hormonal balance and ultrasound ovarian imaging

f)for women who have endometriosis

Homeopathic treatment helps  to arrest and in some cases reverse its development.

g)for women who have hormonal imbalance and irregular periods

Natural pregnancy can occur if a woman is ovulating regularly. Irregular periods makes difficult to determine the timing of ovulation, when the impact on fertility is obvious Secondly, good general and reproductive health are important and these can be also improved. As far as hormones are concerned, both the individual hormones involved as well as their interrelationship and balance are equally important.

When  menstrual cycle is going well, it is highly likely that women are making healthy, high quality eggs. When  menstrual cycle is not going well, it is unlikely to make healthy eggs.

  1. h) for the Partner with poor sperm count and quality

Homeopathic treatment can help to improve sperm count, sperm motility, sperm morphology or reducing anti-sperm anti-bodies.

Common Fertility-related Health Conditions, Disorders and Diseases

a)PCOS

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common condition that occurs when a woman’s levels of the sex hormones estrogen and progesterone are out of balance leading to the growth of ovarian sacs(cysts) unable to release an egg, which means that ovulation doesn’t take place. So,PCOS can cause serious problems with a women’s menstrual cycle and fertility.

The common signs and symptoms of PCOS are     irregular periods or no period at all(amenorrhea),    difficulty in getting pregnant, excessive hair growth  on the face, chest, back or buttocks, weight gain, thinning hair and hair loss from the head, oily face skin or acne

High AMH and testosterone are often associated with PCOS. PCOS is also related to abnormal hormone levels in the body, including high levels of insulin, the hormone that controls sugar levels in the body. Many women with PCOS are resistant to the action of insulin and produce higher levels of insulin to overcome this. Women with PCOS tend to have high testosterone level.whcih can lead to exhaustion of the granulosa cells of the follicles, compromised egg development and poor egg and embryo quality.PCOS patients are likely to be less successful in either natural pregnancy or IVF treatment as they have poor egg quality

b)Miscarriage

A miscarriage is the loss of a pregnancy during the first 23 weeks.Miscarriages are related often to hormonal imbalances, like in women with very irregular periods ,who find it harder to conceive and when they do,they are more likely to miscarry. Also immunological and blood-clotting problems in the blood vessels which supply the placenta can often lead to miscarriage.Chronic Infections of the female genital tract may also cause miscarriage quite often. If a miscarriage happens during the second trimester of pregnancy (between weeks 14 and 26), it’s sometimes the result of an underlying health condition in the mother.
